BIPOC Pop 2024 Convenes Nation’s Premier Expo & Symposium Dedicated to Comics, Gaming, Animation, and Multimedia Arts, March 7-9

University of Texas Austin College Liberal Arts

The University of Texas at Austin College of Liberal Arts will host BIPOC Pop 2024, a three-day event, March 7-9, that will create an extraordinary space for BIPOC creators, scholars, students, teachers, librarians, and industry innovators to explore and share as well as to build and solidify BIPOC alliances and strengthen community through the sharing of cutting-edge, creative, critical knowledge-making practices in the graphic storytelling arts. Awards will be given for Best Student Essay, Best Emerging Creator, Best Animated Short, Best Animated Doc., and Best Student Animated Short. Workshops and panels will focus on topics such as Chicanofuturism, stories for youth empowerment, performing pop culture, history telling through zines, life tales, shaping new K–12 learning spaces, and more. Esteemed presenters, workshop leaders, expo guests, and facilitators include high-profile players in the industry such as Chispa/Scout Comics publisher, Veronique Medrano, publisher; White House consultant and CEO of Ad Astra Media, José Morey, M.D.; award winning filmmaker and CEO of L21 Consulting, Ben Lopez; Marvel creator Kevin Garcia; award winning author, Harvard professor, and member of the Cherokee Nation, Daniel Justice; and, Angélique Roché, producer of Marvel’s Voices; among many others. The event is the brainchild of Professor Frederick Luis Aldama, the Jacob & Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities at UT Austin, who is also widely known as Professor Latinx. Aldama is a prolific writer, documentary filmmaker, and founder and director of UT Austin’s Latinx Pop Lab as well as the Latinx Pop Magazine. BIPOC Pop came as a natural strategic move to put UT Austin on the map for the creating, teaching, and studying of Latinx/BIPOC comics, gaming, animation, and multimedia storytelling arts. Dr. Aldama describes the impact of this trailblazing event: “We have lots of big cons across the country, but nothing that brings creatives, scholars, teachers, librarians, and industry leaders under one roof—and certainly nothing that puts BIPOC pop culture front and center. BIPOC POP shouts from rooftops that our stories matter. That we are vital shapers of culture at large!” The symposium will take place March 7-9 from 9am–5pm in the Patton Hall Glickman Conference Center on the UT Austin Campus at 305 E. 23rd St. Partners include Ad Astra Media, UT’s Latino Studies, Project Males, University of North Texas, Texas Orange Jackets. Sarytogan Graphite reports high-grade assays to feed into upcoming PFS

Sarytogan Graphite Ltd

Sarytogan Graphite Ltd (ASX:SGA) managing director Sean Gregory sits down with Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to discuss recent results from geotechnical drilling at the Sarytogan graphite deposit in central Kazakhstan. The company reported several significant intercepts of greater than 40% total graphitic carbon (TGC) and two individual assays higher than an “extraordinary” 50% TGC. The eight holes drilled last year, totalled 471.3 metres, with high-grade graphite mineralisation reported in 92% of all metres drilled. Gregory also discusses how these results will contribute to the upcoming pre-feasibility study and provides an update on ongoing battery testing, following successful maiden battery results on Sarytogan uncoated spherical purified graphite (USPG) that delivered superior performance to many Chinese synthetic graphites used in lithium-ion batteries. With the PFS and ongoing drilling to come, there should be no shortage of news flow for the company. Gregory said: “These thick high-grade results, in many cases over the entire length of 60-metre drill holes drilled into the proposed initial pit walls, highlight the low strip-ratio and exceptionally high-grade mineralisation available at Sarytogan. This is another important input to the pre-feasibility study on track for completion no later than Q3 2024.” Contact Details Proactive Investors Jonathan Jackson +61 413 713 744

Vaping: Know the Truth: Youth Vaping Prevention & Resources to Quit

YourUpdateTV

A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/LXqBkJ5imDA E-cigarette use remains a public health threat among youth and young adults with more than 2.1 million middle and high schoolers currently using e-cigarettes, according to the 2023 National Youth Tobacco Survey. Nearly one in four students surveyed use e-cigarettes vape every day or nearly daily, underscoring the highly addictive nature of nicotine, which is harmful to developing brains. It doesn’t stop there. A recent study revealed that teen cannabis use has increased by 245% over the past two decades and approximately 15% of high school seniors who have ever used cannabis become daily or near daily users. On February 5th, a media tour was conducted featuring Amy Taylor, Chief of Community Engagement for Truth Initiative and teachers who use the Vaping: Know the truth curriculum. Vaping: Know the truth is a free, comprehensive digital curriculum designed to empower students by giving them the facts about the health dangers of e-cigarettes and providing resources for youth who vape to quit and made available to schools by leading social impact education innovator, EVERFI. Truth Initiative also recently added two new lessons to the Vaping: Know the truth curriculum to equip students with knowledge about the health effects of vaping cannabis. The new cannabis-focused lessons equip students with knowledge regarding cannabis in vaping products, including short- and long-term health effects, consequences, and risks. Since its launch, more than one million students across the country have actively engaged with the curriculum. It is a self-led interactive online course with peer-to-peer instruction. It was developed as part of Truth Initiative’s proven-effective and nationally recognized truth youth public education campaign. In addition to encouraging students to live vape-free lives, Vaping: Know the truth offers resources to help young people who are currently using e-cigarettes to quit through truth’s first-of-its-kind text message youth quit vaping program This is Quitting, which is already helping more than 700,000 youth and young adults on their journeys to quit. The curriculum also has suggested resources available for young people looking to quit cannabis. ACD/Labs Launches a New Era of Analytical Knowledge Management in Support of Digital Transformation at Pittcon 2024

ACD/Labs

Cloud-enabled Spectrus Manager JS—the next application in the Spectrus JS family—will help R&D organizations enable analytical data access to all scientists. Multi-technique, vendor agnostic data, uniformly assembled with chemical context, is now broadly accessible to scientists for decision-support and suitable for machine access (AI/ML applications). ACD/Labs, an informatics company that develops and commercializes software in support of digitalized R&D, today announced the continuing evolution of their software to browser-based applications with the release of Spectrus Manager JS. The software will help unlock the value of instrument data for lab and data scientists, and help organizations meet digital transformation goals. Spectrus Manager JS provides scientifically intuitive querying of assembled, contextualized experimental results; and interactive access to LC/UV/MS, GC/MS, NMR, Optical, and other analytical data from all major instrument vendor formats. The capability to store interpreted spectral and chromatographic data with metadata creates a centralized database of knowledge; and data can be reprocessed and re-interrogated in the same browser-based application. Heterogenous analytical data is standardized to be machine accessible for data science applications, and available beyond ACD/Labs’ ecosystem. On premises or hybrid cloud deployment ensures the security of data and intellectual property. “We have been supporting R&D labs with tools to digitalize chemical and analytical data-centric workflows for 30 years,” says Richard Lee, Director of Core Technologies at ACD/Labs. “We continue to migrate and enhance our tools that have been central to scientists’ decision-making for decades to improve accessibility, ease IT overhead, and meet the needs of the lab of the future with an API-forward tech stack. Browser-based, searchable access to digital twins will empower scientists with on-demand access to the data they need to make decisions, eliminate barriers to collaboration, improve productivity, and ultimately accelerate innovation.” Digitalization projects often reduce analytical data to abstracted text and images due to its heterogeneity, limiting usability. Re-use is also difficult due to the number of software interfaces necessary to interact with the different types of raw data. While ACD/Labs’ applications on the Spectrus Platform already addressed these challenges, Spectrus Manager JS further eases data access, software deployment, and maintenance. Deployed in conjunction with Spectrus Conduit, ACD/Labs’ recently introduced low-code/no-code application for workflow automation, Spectrus Manager JS helps organizations achieve FAIR-compliance in analytical data digitalization while meeting their productivity goals. For more information about Spectrus Manager JS, visit ACD/Labs at Booth 2042 in the Pittcon exhibition or visit www.acdlabs.com/SpectrusJS. About ACD/Labs ACD/Labs is a leading provider of scientific software, aiding decision-making and digital transformation in chemical and pharmaceutical R&D. Great Republic Mining finishes geophysics program at Porcher Island Property

Great Republic Mining

Great Republic Mining Corporation CEO Fred Davidson joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share the results of the company's 2023 prospecting, sampling, and ground geophysics program on the Porcher Island Vanadium-Titanium-Iron Property in British Columbia. Davidson highlighted that the field program successfully expanded the discoveries of Vanadium mineralization on the Porcher Island Property, which is strategically located on tidewater, just 40 kilometers from the deepwater, all-season port of Prince Rupert. During the program, 30 rock samples were taken, with values ranging up to 0.17% V, equivalent to 0.303% V205. Additionally, the company utilized 2019 airborne magnetic geophysics data, confirming several distinct high magnetic anomalies. Ground magnetics were also conducted, covering 5 line-km in a core area, revealing numerous localized magnetic highs for future exploration. The results from the 2023 field program confirmed the potential for mineralization of a large-scale stratified Vanadium-Iron-Titanium system on the Porcher Island Property. Historic airborne magnetics surveys also highlighted two other areas, measuring 2.5 by 4.5km and 2 by 3km respectively, which were sampled and returned anomalous vanadium values, warranting further follow-up exploration efforts.
