PRCG | Sports Welcomes Legendary NFL Sideline Reporter Michele Tafoya to the “Crisis Communications in Sports” Podcast Sports public relations discussion focuses on Charissa Thompson's Admission that she made up stories on the sidelines

Sports public relations firm PRCG | Sports recently sat down with one of the most well respected NFL sideline reporters of all time, Michele Tafoya, to discuss the fallout following statements by current NFL personality Charissa Thompson, who admitted to sometimes fabricating reports during the early years of her career as a sideline reporter.
Now more than ever, sports public relations are a critical necessity in order to address the seemingly endless stream of sensitive issues that affect athletes, teams, leagues, brands, and—in this case—media personalities.
“I don’t think she (Thompson) had people like you helping her out with this,” Tafoya told hosts Jim Rocco and Cris Bruce on the PRCG | Sports’ podcast. “I think that was to her detriment, and that’s unfortunate, she should have.”
Tafoya, known for her professionalism and commitment to journalistic standards, emphasized the profound impact such admissions can have on public trust and the credibility of sports journalism as a whole. Having covered 327 national primetime TV games—a record for NFL sideline reporters—Tafoya also lamented the lack of consequence and how it reflects on the industry's approach to accountability and transparency.
In response to the absence of any comment or disciplinary measures by Thompson’s employers, Tafoya rhetorically asked: “What are you saying to your entire organization by not speaking about this, by ignoring it? I think that’s a really relevant question”.
