NeuroRestorative Kentucky Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Paducah Location Rehabilitation service provider serving individuals with brain, spinal cord and medically complex injuries and illnesses hosts open house in celebration of their 20th year of service.

NeuroRestorative is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its NeuroRestorative Paducah program. Paducah is one of four NeuroRestorative program locations in Kentucky while the NeuroRestorative footprint at large spans 28 states. An open house was held on Tuesday, April 18, with Kentucky state delegates, local leaders and community members, program staff, individuals served and their loved ones. The event honored program participants, sharing their stories and celebrating their successes and hard work.
In 2002, the Paducah program became the first brain injury program in Kentucky. What began as a 3-room standalone service provider for people with brain injuries has since grown both in size and in the quality of care provided. With increased clinical and patient care, resources, community support, and physical expansion, NeuroRestorative Paducah has evolved over the past two decades into a nationally-recognized center of excellence in treating post-acute neurological trauma.
“NeuroRestorative provides vital services to those in need of help with Traumatic Brain injuries,” says State Representative Steven Rudy, who gave remarks at the event. “I support the mission of this program and strongly believe Kentucky is fortunate to provide these services.”
NeuroRestorative Kentucky provides a wide range of active rehabilitation and other supports for people of all ages with brain injury and other neurological challenges in both residential and outpatient settings. Services include neurorehabilitation and physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as community integration and life skills training, and more.
NeuroRestorative Paducah currently serves 53 individuals, including those with short and long-term care needs. The program is supported by 108 staff members including healthcare professionals (physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses etc.), social workers, and residential supervisors.
“We are so proud to celebrate our 20th year supporting the people of Western Kentucky,” said Jane Stahl, Executive Director of NeuroRestorative Kentucky. “We have built a community here in Paducah and every individual who walks through our doors joins the NeuroRestorative family.”
Stahl continued, “We have program individuals that have been with us for 10+ years and team members who have been with us for nearly 20! We are invested in the wellbeing of the individuals in our care and cherish every opportunity we have to hear them speak about their journeys and the work they have put in to achieve their goals. They are here, doing incredible work and living a life of value and purpose.”

The Paducah program is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). NeuroRestorative participants work toward overall increase in function and level of independence from the time of admission to the time of discharge, as measured by standardized assessments like the Mayo-Portland Adaptability Inventory version 4 (MPAI-4).
Success:
One individual who has seen such success with NeuroRestorative Paducah, and spoke about his story at the open house, is Kerry Frazier. In October of 2019, Kerry (67), while working construction, fell from a chimney landing on his head and neck. He suffered multiple broken bones including three skull fractures, a broken back, collarbone, scapula, ribs, a punctured lung, and multiple cracked vertebrae. After being rushed to the hospital, his sisters recall the doctors noting they did not expect him to survive the first few weeks. Kerry, now, nearly four years after his accident, has proved them all wrong.
Starting in 2020, Kerry received residential support at NeuroRestorative Paducah. Thanks to his hard work in physical and speech therapy, Kerry is back living at home and has gotten back to nearly everything he was able to do before his accident. He spends his days gardening, taking care of his home, and living a full, independent life.
